Dir. Willy Häussler of PAUSA AG - a leading textile producer in Germany - was an art collector himself. In the early decades of the 20th century he bought artworks from Miro to Picasso. In the offices built in Bauhaus-style nearby Stuttgart one would walk past paintings and artworks like in a museum of modern art.

Dir. W. Häussler recognised the talent of Leo Wollner and enjoyed to work with him. He supported his unique artistic work like the printing of the main stage curtain of the Salzburg Festspielhaus or later in the 70-ies the “Three Meter” collection, four prints introduced in 1972 that were the result of a collaboration between Knoll, the Austrian designers Gretl and Leo Wollner, and PAUSA AG. The Wollners enjoyed much freedom in originating these designs, which were proposed as extremely large prints with no pattern repeat from floor to ceiling.

In the 50-ies Dir. W. Sandberg of the Stedelijk Museum invited the young Leo Wollner to show his textile design printed at PAUSA AG. We can assume that Dir. W. Häussler gladly supported the printing of the textile patterns for the production of the unique catalogue. Graphic design by Dir. Sandberg. Each catalogue is unique and still available.

By chance we met the …who still has some catalogues in her shop…….

All catalogues with printed designs by Leo Wollner assembled by hand……graphic design by Dir. W. Sandberg
